Cherry Nut Delight

Ingredients:
1 c. walnuts
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. flaked coconut
1/3 c. sugar
1 8 oz. cream cheese
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can cherry pie filling

Instructions:
Chop 1/2 c. walnuts coarsely-reserve for topping. Chop remaining 1/2 c. walnuts fine. Combine flour, brown sugar & butter. Blend to fine crumbs. Add coconut & finely chopped nuts. Mix well. Reserve 1/2 c. of this mixture. Pat remaining flour mixture into 9x13 greased & floured pan. Bake 12-15 min at 350 until edges are light brown. Mix sugar & cream cheese. Stir in egg & vanilla. Beat until smooth. Spread over hot layer. Bake 10 min. longer. Remove & spread with cherry pie filling, sprinkle with remaining walnuts and reserved crumb mixture. Bake 15 min. Cool. Serve as is or top with whipped cream or ice cream.
